Meoto Iwa, Futami Okiama Shrine

Meoto Iwa are two sacred rocks connected by a Shimenawa rope, known as a place for worshipping the sunrise. The two rocks represent husband and wife, serve as a Torii gate to Okitama Shinseki, a holy rock related to the god Sarutahiko of Futami Okitama Shrine. In early summer, beautiful sunrises can be seen between the connected two rocks. It is one of the best scenic place in Iseshima.
